The birth of The Dungbeetle came to light because of the frustration horse owner Rachelle endured with horse poo scoops currently in the market continually breaking. Rachelle’s husband Twig put years of his prototyping skills to use and decided to create the ultimate horse pooper scooper.
The Dungbeetle, while serving the serious task of doody duties needed to reflect a fun and bright personality, unlike the actual chore it is set out to do. Strength was another key point which also needed to be addressed. The challenge was accepted and we set out to create a unique brand for this champion lifter (after quite a few poo puns).
The best way to give The Dungbeetle a voice was to give him/her a face. With custom illustration we created several characters which best represented a fun and friendly Dungbeetle. A graphic that would suit the personality and could be incorporated throughout all the brand requirements: Print Marketing, Product Development, Social Media Marketing and Digital Marketing. We paired the illustration with a strong typeface to support the strength characteristic of the brand.
Copywriting was also developed to further support the fun personality while ensuring key messages and qualities were outlined clearly. Combined with the brand design, this was applied to all print and digital communications including the product packaging to ensure brand integrity was consistent.
The Dungbeetle is a relatively young product which officially launched on …… Since the launch the initial response and online sales volume has been extremely positive. Primarily an online product, the consumer requires assurance with purchases that are not yet tangible. This is made possible with a strong brand story and creative brand strategy.
The Dungbeetle has gained a solid following, positive reviews and feedback for both product quality and marketing within the horse industry in Australia. The Dungbeetle has now also launched in the UK. A great result from this champion little lifter!
